Project abstract

The project is focused on research and development of heat treatment of bearing components in energy efficient furnaces in order to achieve high shape stability of these bearing components. Research and development of the heat treatment process is focused on meeting the requirement of maximum reduction of deformations after quenching and setting the capability of the process Cmk = 1.6.

The planned goal will be achieved by mastering the innovated technological process of heat treatment of bearing components in the newly developed energy-saving test heating furnace with forced circulation, where the key is the related development of an innovated fan for forced circulation of the heating furnace atmosphere and further the use of innovative quenching jigs.

The newly developed heating furnace will enable a temperature control within the required tolerance and temperature gradient so that the temperature stress caused by heating the bearing rings and the deformation caused by it, is eliminated as much as possible by influence of the uniform heating. For the main applicant, the reduction of deformations after quenching and the achievement of shape stability while attaining the planned process capability Cmk = 1.6 is an important factor, which is a fundamental necessity for subsequent finishing operations in the production of bearing rings.
