Smart firefighter suit at Scientist's Nights
On Friday 5th October 2018, at the Techmania Science Center in Pilsen, an exhibition of the Regional Innovation Center of Electrical Engineering (RICE) of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (UWB) was held as part of the fourteenth edition of the popular nationwide Night of Scientists.
The Regional Innovation Center of Electrical Engineering this year presented the historical development of a smart firefighting suit. Development of suits which was attended by RICE employees along with VOCHOC, Holík International, Elitronic and Applycon.
Since its birth, the suit has gone through four development versions.
The 1st version was created within the INTEX project. This version has removable temperature and humidity sensors.
The 2nd version was created in the framework of the Smart@Fire pre-commercial tender. Thermocouples (temperature sensors) are permanently integrated into the suit along with active lighting.
The 3rd version was created in the framework of the Smart@Fire pre-commercial tender and the ADVANTEX project. This version of the suit contains the greatest technical equipment of all developed versions.
The 4th version was optimized for commercial use, i.e. the suit was designed to be commercial and competitive. Currently the certification is underway, and is being prepared to be launched to market. This version is equipped with sensors, active lighting, alarm and control unit - SCU. The suit system continuously monitors and evaluates the safety of the environment in which the firefighter interferes, external and internal temperature and humidity, toxic and explosive gases, but also the position of the body, the fire physiological function and its location in the field.
