Project abstract

The aim of the project is the research and development of tools for precise die forging of non-ferrous metal alloys (Al, Cu) enabling the achievement of greater precision of shapes, higher lifetime of the dies and the achievement of higher process capability Cm/Cmk = 2, which is currently largely in the automotive industry required.

Newly developed tools for precise die forging of non-ferrous metal alloys (Al, Cu) will allow increasing the precision of the shape and dimensions of forgings from aluminium and copper alloys to the IT11 accuracy level. By achieving the target value of the accuracy parameter, the applicant will reach a level comparable to the world competition and thus strengthen its position in the international market, which constantly exerts pressure to increase the shape precision in order to minimize additional costs for machining the finished product. The developed tools for precise die forging of non-ferrous metals with higher accuracy will offer to current customers a forging - a semi-finished product of a higher degree of processing, and therefore with a higher utility value. The applicant will thus gain the possibility of a greater application in new markets, namely within the European and global original manufacturers (OEM) in the context of the ever-accelerating pace of innovation cycles.

The goal of the project solution is to develop tools for precise forging of non-ferrous metal alloys - aluminium and copper, which, thanks to the achieved precision of shape and the extended lifetime of tools for precise forging, will make possible to increase the international competitiveness of the main applicant Kovolit, a.s. in foreign markets.
